” I don’t want to knock Comic Relief – in fact I still have my certificate supporting the very first one and have continued ever since. But £80million+……

I don’t want to compare levels of deprivation. You can’t, but I do know that Church Street and Queens Park where we work here in Westminster have amongst the worst levels of deprivation in the country. More specifically the impact on children of financial deprivation is at it’s worst in the these areas. It may not mean the same as in Africa but it is on our door-step and it is shocking.

I don’t want to talk about the governance in those African countries but think of rich and poor. Westminster has the same diversity – thank goodness the origins are different. But here where you work and where you live the richest and poorest live virtually side by side.

What I do want to do is to ask you for your small change. You have given the big ones, dig into your pockets for us. £1500 will support a family – thats many lives – for a year and last year we supported 154 families with 399 children. £5 will buy books for the children.

We can make a difference on your doorstep, in your community. Please help us , we are right here, under your noses’.
