Blowing Bubbles

The Intuitive Mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honours the servant and has forgotten the gift”. The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness, call it intuition or what you will and the solution comes to you and you don’t know how or why.

I did my training with HSW some years ago and have supported a number of families since but it is my first family who will always be in my thoughts. The mother’s experiences had changed her life to one of despair and
isolation with little hope for her and her family. Gradually we overcame cultural differences, we treated each other with respect and week by week I saw this mother change and flourish. It was a humbling experience being part of that change but just as I supported her the HSW team supported me. Once you are part of the HSW family you are never alone.

I used to spend many sleepless nights worrying about my life. I would sit on my bed at 4.00am wondering what was going to happen to me and my children. If it wasn’t for Home-Start Westminster I wouldn’t be here today and my children would still be in care.

My journey has been a difficult one, often lonely and isolated.  Then Home-Start Westminster came along and held my hand.  When Joseph starts school I really want to go back to work, to give my children a better life. There are so many families out there that need Home-Start support, I was one of the lucky ones and I have so much to thank Home-Start Westminster for.

We are currently running our most popular prep. course ever – this is the training that all our volunteers must undertake before being matched with a family. There are 20 potential volunteers taking part and they will be fully trained by the end of November.

Look out for the dates for our courses in 2010

On March 3rd we are celebrating our 10th birthday with a tea party in one of Westminster’s most high-profile and well-known places of interest – No 11 Downing Street. It is a wonderful occasion for Home-start Westminster to thank all those who have supported us over the last 10 years and we are immensely grateful to Maggie Darling for giving us the opportunity to do this in such style. Thank you

We will be launching our 2nd decade in comparable style with a reception and tour of the House of Lords on October 7th. This historical landmark building in Westminster is normally closed to the public and we ask you to take this opportunity to enjoy this special venue and support Home- start Westminster. For more information please contact: admin@homestartwestminster.co.uk

Favourite nursery rhymes was the theme of our joint celebration with New Pin to mark National Bookstart day and we had tremendous fun letting our imagination run riot producing rockets and stars galore.  Adults and children were all engaged in the activities – both fun and educational – organised by a representative from Westminster Adult Education Services and the day was a great success.
We will be joining up with New Pin again for our joint Christmas Party so watch this space for more details.
