Trip to Willows Farm

9.45am - 5.30pm The final trip in our summer scheme is to Willows Farm just north of London. There are chances to handle the animals, ride on tractors, get lost in their maze, watch a falconry display, watch the children shows and generally have a fun family day out. Places are limited so booking is essential.

Easter picnic to Regent’s Park

On 8th April staff, families and children enjoyed our annual Easter picnic to Regent’s Park. Parent’s were able to enjoy relaxing in the sun chatting to old friends and getting to know some news ones while we organised games for the children to enjoy such as an egg and spoon race (which some parent’s even took part in!), a sack race, parachute games and the highlight of the day – our annual easter egg hunt. I’m not sure who had more fun, Emily and George hiding the eggs or the children finding them. We were blessed with beautiful weather and over 15 families and 30 children enjoyed the day.

Maximising Income for Families

The training for this project with Turn2us and the Child Poverty Action Group is now well underway and our volunteers are very enthusiastic about this new tool. All volunteers who complete the training and pass the online test are given a certificate by Turn2us and updated on further enhancements to the system.

Home-Start Westminster celebrates it’s 10th anniversary at Number 11 Downing Street

On the 3rd March we were very kindly invited to Numer 11 Downing Street by Maggie Darling to celebrate our tenth anniversary. Over 60 of us, made up of families, children, volunteers, trustees, staff, funders and supporters enjoyed a wonderful tea party in a beautiful setting. Many thanks to everyone at Number 11 for such a wonderfully memorable day.

Maximising Income for Families

Home-start Westminster is very pleased to be a partner in a project with Turn2us and the Child Poverty Action Group to deliver a new service to help families in need claim money available to them. A group of our volunteers tested the Turn2us Benefit Checker and Grants search programme and we will be training all our volunteers to use this e-learning resource to enable them to offer personalised, practical help to the families they support.
