Volunteer Forum September 2025

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at Home-Start and we simply couldn’t do it without them. Not only do they bring valuable skills and experience, but they also give their time with compassion, kindness, and open hearts. We’re always keen to listen, learn, and connect with our volunteers, which is why we hold regular forums to share updates and hear their insights.

At our most recent forum on Thursday 25th September, we came together to talk about new developments in our team and volunteer roles, as well as what support and training volunteers would find most helpful in their work with Home-Start families. A highlight was Ann-Marie’s brilliant presentation on her Birth & Beyond group and the extra one-to-one parenting support available through Parent Zone.

We also piloted our brand-new Cultural Competencies training, designed to raise awareness, build understanding of diverse cultures, and equip volunteers to engage respectfully and inclusively within our communities. Just as importantly, the session created a safe space for open conversations, even when views differ, so we can learn from one another and grow together.
